Click To Engage Students
Did
you know that several UT Knoxville faculty have been using a relatively new technology
in teaching and learning that helps increase student engagement and active participation
in class? It's called "clicker" technology, and ITC recorded their intial experiences
in the Clicker Pilot Report.
Any faculty interested in using clicker technology can contact Kathy Herr at
eInstruction by emailing kathy.herr@einstruction.com or
by calling (888) 707-6819 to request a course site.
Once
you've obtained a course site, the ITC will provide on-campus faculty training
and support via a workshop on clicker use, question structuring, and interactive
strategies. We provide one-on-one faculty assistance as requested and a Web
site for reference, communication, and group support.
If
your department would like a workshop on the use and benefits of departmental
clicker adoption, contact Dr. Christina Goode at (865) 974-6470, cgoode@utk.edu,
or Dr. Michael Burke at (865) 974-8893, cgoode@utk.edu.
The clickers shown above are the two models currently available on campus. |

START Assists Researchers
Faculty from all disciplines are invited to participate in a new service that
promotes faculty-undergraduate collaboration and partnership in research. Team
members from the ITC’s Student Technology Assistants for Research and Teaching
(START) program will partner with faculty researchers interested in using technology
to document and disseminate their research. The START team
Full-time UTK faculty members may visit the
ITC’s Services page and request
the services of a START Team
member via our online request form.
For more information, contact the START Program Coordinator, Dr. Christina Goode,
at 974-6470 or cgoode@utk.edu, or the ITC’s
Executive Director, Dr. Jean Derco, at 974-9670.
IT Research Support Database
OIT’s Support for Faculty Research
database provides basic information about
IT-related technologies and services to
support your research at the University
of Tennessee. Most of the resources
reside within the Office of Information
Technology, although some are in UT
Libraries, Office of Research, and select
academic departments.
The site’s comprehensive search form
allows a faculty researcher to pinpoint just
the right campus resource to assist in
a broad variety of technological needs.
For more information, visit OIT
Research Services or
contact Dr. Jean Derco or Mark Spurlock, 974-9670.
