Directions for Using the SmartBoard in Centra

Install SmartBoard software on the computer. The software
can be downloaded at
http://www.smarttech.com/support/software/index.asp.
To use SmartBoard Floating Tools in Centra, login to Centra,
start the SmartBoard application, and follow these directions:
To run the SmartBoard Application
This application is generally started when you
start your computer. The SmartBoard icon will appear
in the taskbar. Click on the SmartBoard icon to
reach the SmartBoard menu. In Centra, you do not
need to share this application. This application
will not be listed in the “Select Application
Share” dialog box.
To create and share annotations in Centra
If you are using the Centra WhiteBoard or doing
your presentation with uploaded slides within the
Centra agenda, you cannot share annotations made
using SmartBoard tools. In order to share annotations,
please use Centra’s annotation tools.
However, bringing up and sharing an external presentation will allow
you to share annotations made with SmartBoard tools.
To create and share annotations in any shared
applications
- Using the SmartBoard Pen and Eraser (or
SmartBoard Sympodium Stylus): You can
create annotations on any shared application.
If you did not share your “Desktop” when
switching to another shared application, the “Acetate
Layer” should be activated by clicking
on “Yes” in the dialog box that appears
automatically.
- Using the SmartBoard Floating Tools: Start
the Floating Tools from the SmartBoard menu. If you are
not sharing your “Desktop,” activate sharing
the acetate layer to share your annotations with your
students.
- Using other SmartBoard Tools: You must
share your “Desktop” in order to make the
effects visible.
